2023 has been nothing short of spectacular, filled with unforgettable Tennis Holidays, incredible memories, and newly formed friendships for life. We have had an absolute blast. From our fun and intense morning coaching sessions to sharing laughs at the dinner table, each and every moment has been amazing. I’ve personally been lucky enough to share many of these wonderful moments with our clients at various beautiful locations around the world over the past 12 months. From paragliding in Oludeniz to Battle of the Brits tournaments in Mallorca, boat trips through Dubai Marina to fine dining at Ikos Aria, the list goes on. These unforgettable moments are what Active Away is all about.
One of the most rewarding aspects of 2023 was witnessing the growth of our Active Away Community. Our passionate and diverse group of tennis lovers have created a positive and supportive environment that goes far beyond the tennis court. Through shared experiences on and off the court, countless connections have been made, laughter echoed, and a sense of belonging blossomed. Over 5000 people from all over the world are part of our unique community, consisting of coaches, clients, friends, and ex-professional players. The diversity of our community is what makes it special, but we are united by a common set of values that form the foundation of our unique bond. We often refer to our community as a ‘family,’ and we really do believe that that is what it feels like. We wanted to find a way in which we could bring our community together and give back to each person in our community. We came up with the Active Away Membership.
In Spring 2023, we launched the Active Away Membership. Our membership program is designed to enhance our clients’ experience and foster a sense of community. At its core, the Membership program serves as a centralised hub, providing a secure space for clients to not only manage all their bookings and information conveniently but also to connect and engage with fellow members. This initiative stems from our commitment to creating more than just a tennis holiday; it’s about building lasting relationships and a shared sense of belonging.
A distinctive feature of the Active Away Membership is the array of exclusive benefits curated with our members’ interests in mind. We’ve partnered with renowned tennis brands such as Tennis Point, Get A Grip, and Cancha Bags to offer our members exclusive discounts, ensuring that they not only enjoy top-notch tennis experiences but also receive special perks when acquiring quality tennis gear. The Active Away Shop, accessible exclusively to members, further extends the opportunity to shop for premium tennis equipment and merchandise. From personalised homeware and travel accessories to Active Away tote bags and towels, the shop is where to get all things Active Away! As our community continued to grow, we wanted another way of making everybody feel as one and as part of a community. Our new clothing line launched this year, bringing Active Away x Head Tennis kit for both men and women, combining state-of-the-art performance technology with style to create the ideal clothing to wear on our Tennis Holidays. The range includes Active Away tennis t-shirts, tennis dresses, and warm-up tracksuit tops, all designed to optimize performance.
To further foster a sense of community and connection, our members gain entry to the private Active Away Facebook Group—a virtual space where they can share experiences, exchange tips, and build connections with like-minded tennis enthusiasts. Additionally, we understand the importance of creating memorable moments, and our members-only events do just that. These events provide more opportunities for our community to come together in person, allowing friendships to grow beyond the tennis court.
In 2023, we were delighted to host not one, but two exclusive members’ events that added a unique dimension to the Active Away experience. The first event; a walk in the beautiful Peak district. Meeting up in Castleton, the group traversed the unique landscapes of the peaks, past the iconic Mam Tor and navigated The Great Ridge Walk, renowned as one of the greatest ridge walks in the country. From countless breathtaking views to many laughs and stories shared along the way, it was a great opportunity to catch up with the Active Away community.
Our Active Away Xmas party just a couple of weeks ago was yet again another fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends made on Tennis Holidays from the past year. A Padel and Tennis tournament at Virgin Active Chiswick Riverside, followed by a meal at the Olympic Studios restaurant in Putney offered another lovely opportunity to catch up with coaches, clients, and friends made from past Tennis Holidays.
The Active Away Membership is more than just a program; it’s a gateway to a thriving tennis community, exclusive discounts, a dedicated online shop, and members-only events. As we look ahead, we are excited about the prospect of further enriching the membership experience and creating lasting memories for you, our valued community, in the years to come.
2023 saw our first Tennis Holidays to Ikos Odisia. We had 4 unforgettable weeks at Odisia in September hosted by Alex Juniper. Ikos Odisia’s ultra all-inclusive basis and stunning natural beauty make it the ideal place for Active Away Tennis Holidays, and we can’t wait to return in the spring.
In Spring 2023, we took over the Tennis Academy at Ikos Aria, Kos. Our coach, George, is delivering the Active Away program to guests at Ikos all summer, including cardio tennis and children’s sessions. We hope to grow our partnership with Ikos resorts in 2024 as we see Ikos’s exceptional level of quality, service, and experience as one of the finest places to holiday anywhere in Europe and around the world.
Earlier in December, we announced Jamie Murray as our new Brand Ambassador. Jamie will be helping us design our brand new tennis program for 2024 and 2025, as well as joining the coaching team alongside his mother, Judy, on some of our UK Tennis Clinics. Jamie Murray is a 7-time Grand Slam champion, former World No. 1, and Davis Cup Champion with Great Britain in 2015. We’ve got so much more to come in 2024. We have a brand new Tennis Programme designed by our expert team in conjunction with 7-time Grand Slam Champion Jamie Murray. We also have brand new tennis holiday resorts in Turkey and Egypt, and our first-ever Padel Holidays will be taking place in February. We have so much planned for 2024, and we are excited to see what this year can bring. One thing is for sure, though. We will continue to do our absolute best to fulfil more dreams and create even more lasting memories for our whole community. Thank you for being a part of the Active Away family in 2023.
