Tennis clinics are a great way to get in some tennis practice and work on your skills. They can be found all over the place, and they are usually affordable. Plus, they’re great for people of all levels of experience and offer a fun, social side to tennis. Our Tennis Clinics Blog will give you an idea of what a Tennis Clinic involves and why they might be of interest to you after finding out about them.

Tennis Clinics

The most exciting way to improve your game – a Tennis Clinic.

Tennis clinics offer players of all ages the opportunity to improve their skills by working with a professional instructor in a group orientated environment. Tennis clinics are also a great way for beginners to get started in the sport because at the end of the day they are all about coming and improving your tennis game, having some fun, and socialising with other tennis enthusiasts. They typically last between one and two hours, and provide instruction on all aspects of tennis, from basic strokes to advanced techniques and drills depending on which clinic you join. Most clinics will end with some form of points play for you to practice what you have been working on and it adds a competitive and fun element to end the session. Clinics are also a great way to network for meeting other players to hit with in the future and of course, a unique and awesome way to stay fit and healthy.

Tennis Clinics in London

With over 550 tennis clubs and 3000 courts in London alone, almost every tennis club will run clinics for their members and for the public. These clinics offer instruction from LTA qualified coaches and will help you work on your game in a comfortable and supportive environment. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, it makes no difference because most clubs will match you to a clinic where you will be amongst players of a similar level. You can use the LTA’s Find a Tennis Coach service here to find a local Tennis Coach who runs clinics near you.

With us at Active Away, we run all of our UK clinics at indoor venues so the weather never lets us down. Our London clinics are held at The Olympic Park Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre (Stratford) on their beautiful blue courts and also at the incredible David Lloyd Milton Keynes (just outside of London). We also love to engage with new tennis clubs and have hosted many Active Away Open Days at local clubs in London and across the UK where club members can get on court with our coaches and experience a glimpse of what we deliver on Active Away Tennis Clinics all over the UK and our Tennis Holidays abroad in sensational locations. Get in touch with us here to set up an Active Away Open Day at your club or to ask us any questions you may have.

Tennis Clinics for Adults

Tennis clinics for adults are a great way to get some exercise in and have some fun. If you are interested in joining a tennis club, joining a clinic at the club beforehand gives you a chance to find out more about the coaches, social aspects and meet new people. This will give you a better outlook on whether the club will be the right fit for you and what you want to get out of joining a local tennis club. There are many players who have joined a Tennis Clinic for the first time and loved it so much that within months they are signed up to weekly clinics, getting involved with the social aspect of the tennis club and then playing team matches or starting to compete. As tennis lovers, we truly appreciate how great our sport is when we see or hear stories like this.

At Active Away, we love the feeling when we have a new player join one of our Tennis Clinics and then follow up with us to book onto their next clinic or first Active Away Tennis Holiday. At an Active Away Adult Clinic, our experienced team of coaches lead doubles specific sessions to help our clients finish the day feeling like they have improved and come away with key strategies and tips to take away with them for the next time they are on court. We pride our Tennis Clinics on working on different aspects of Tennis with some new drills a client may have never done before whilst incorporating a fun and social aspect to the clinic to ensure everyone is learning, improving, and enjoying themselves.

Tennis Clinics for Children

Children of all ages love the sport of tennis. From pre-schoolers up to age 10, there are different sized and softer balls used to make it easier for the children to develop their skills in tennis, whilst also developing their social skills and making new friends. Tennis Clinics are a great after school activity to keep children fit and healthy. The LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) has helped fund starting clinics for children at local tennis clubs and in schools all across the country because of the benefits they receive from playing tennis. As we are starting to learn in society, visual learning is becoming one of the most engaging ways for people to learn and tennis has the benefit of being a repetitive, visual learning sport that improves visual and auditory processing skills.

A great way to keep your children entertained during the school holidays is at a local club’s tennis camp. The majority of tennis clubs in the UK who have clinics for children, provide a camp during the week days of school holidays where the children are cared for whilst their parents are at work. The camps provide the children with more than just tennis, some incorporate other sports as well and others incorporate arts and crafts too. Check out our Tennis Camps Blog for more!
