As a solo traveller who loves tennis, my Active Away Holiday in Crete was fantastic. Excellent coaches delivering an impressive tennis programme in a really lovely hotel resort.

This was my sixth trip with Active Away. I’ve enjoyed them all for different reasons but this has been my absolute favourite. Your commitment to continuous improvement and client care is unrivalled. I hope you continue to go from strength to strength X

It was my third Active Away Holiday so perhaps I was more receptive to doubles coaching, but I found the coaching to be an exceptionally high level. The pace was faster than I remember from previous trips. Great variation of drills and challenges play. The group was mixed well when playing social tennis in the afternoon. Both George and Owen gave a good balance of individual tips and doubles tactics. They worked together well as a team, and were professional but good fun.

A great combination of tennis, R&R and sociability led by a fantastic of pros - great fun!

Active Away promote a positive team spirit and make the sessions fun and proactive. I couldn’t play (medical reasons) but the team made sure I was included and I got a lot from watching the coaching.

Everything about the holiday from start to finish runs seamlessly. You are so well looked after by the team of coaches. Nothing is too much for them on and off the court.

This was my 5th tennis holiday with Active Away. We stayed at Royal Mare in Crete for the 2nd year running. This is a beautiful well-run resort with large, clean, comfortable rooms on an all-inclusive basis. Our Active Away host, Dan, was excellent and, along with his team of Sophie, Alex and Rich, impressively delivered the Active Away coaching programme which has been devised by Jamie Murray. Dan was very organised, with slick communication each day on what we would be doing in the coaching sessions and also collecting our menu choices for days we were dining at the speciality on-site restaurants. The team were great fun, very friendly and approachable and delivered a really enjoyable week of tennis on the clay courts, in the sunshine. Fantastic exhibition match at the end of the week too. Would definitely recommend.

AA is one of the best holidays to improve your tennis but also to have tremendous fun.

My recent Active Away tennis holiday in Crete was fantastic. An excellent holiday for the single traveler. The four coaches Dan, Gavin, Sophie and Blake were all brilliant hosts.

The coaching is brilliantly reinforced with videos and demos by the coaches. The coaches' efforts to integrate us all, introduce everyone to each other was also much appreciated. Finally the venue was a highlight, lovely food and great service.

Active Away tennis holiday was absolutely fantastic, the coaches, location, hotel and fellow guests made it an 10/10 holiday on all counts. Active Away smashed it.

We go on many holidays and nearly always find something to moan about, or something that needs correcting. Not so with this one! They have clearly honed their craft and whereas most companies seem to ignore comments and just carry on, activeaway has done the job. Great coaching, great hotel (Crete) and just great fun. What's not to recommend?

Fantastic tennis coaching with individual advice. A week full of fun, learning new skills and lots of practice. I have been 3 times so far on my own and also with a group of friends and it has been always such an amazing week. The resorts are well picked and you feel looked after throughout. The head coach Alex Juniper is super professional. His constant support and organisation with his team will make you feel 100% comfortable on and off the courts. 3rd time with Active Away and it's the 3rd time we had a great holiday.

We just got back from Royal Mare Crete tennis week with Active Away. Loved it! The coaches were all superb and professional and the organisation is first class and the team provide a great platform for improving your tennis with interesting drills and this is supported by matchplay and also it is a great opportunity to mix with other players and meet new friends! This is my second AA holiday and we will booking another one soon in 2025. Highly recommended for any tennis fans!!

Had the most truly amazing Activeaway tennis holiday at the superb Royal Mare hotel Crete. It was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. I was a bit nervous as I was a solo traveller and not the most experienced player but I thought ‘what’s the worst that can happen?’ The Activeaway coaches/hosts think of everything and their attention to detail is impressive. Back home now my tennis has improved so much. I will definitely be booking another Activeaway trip.

An excellent enjoyable days tennis with the focus on improving doubles play, beating the bounce, drive volleys, positioning, tracking the ball and much more. I have just returned from a week in Crete with Active Away. What a great time I had. The tennis coaching was excellent. Paced at each individual’s needs. Approached from a variety of angles from expert explanations/demonstrations, drills, fun competitions and social play to put into practice the tennis skills which we had learnt earlier. All of the coaches were friendly and equally fun on and off the court. I highly recommend Active Away tennis holidays for those wanting to take part in regular and well-structured tennis coaching/playing to develop their understanding and skills on court as well as those looking for a sociable holiday involving group dinners and drinks and even dancing.

This was my first trip with Active Away and I'd highly recommend it! The week was really well organised with an overall itinerary and daily details shared via WhatsApp to the group. The hosts and coaches (one coach per 6 people) had great personalities and were all really skilled and knowledgeable in the theory they were teaching and demonstrating. The days were a mix of theory, demos, drills, social and team competitive match play - all with an overriding sense of fun! The key 'take aways' from each day were reaffirmed and shared. It all exceeded my expectations and I will be booking with Active Away again!

What a fantastic week in Crete with Active Away. Coaching exceeded our expectations, special mention to Max who made us up our game. Morning coaching was well planned and delivered. The tennis programme in Crete couldn't have been more thoughtfully designed to maximize what a player can learn in a concentrated period. More attention on what can be conveyed and taken away in a week - strategy, positioning, movement - rather than on tweaking strokes soon to be forgotten. Coaching that's harmonized to a clear, well designed plan, thereby reinforcing lessons day by day. A big step up from the 2 or 3 other programmes I've been on in recent years. Congrats to Matt, Finn, Alex and Max! And the hotel / environment was great too....

I have been on at least 10 Active Away holidays and they have all exceeded expectations in terms of the quality of the tennis coaching and the social activities with like minded friends old and new. Fantastic holidays!

What a fantastic holiday! I can’t fault a single thing. I was nervous pre-departure as I’d never been on a tennis holiday before or played a huge amount of matches against people I didn’t know. However, I shouldn’t have been worried; the Active Away coaches are all so welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and most importantly fun. They put you at ease every time you’re on court so you feel able to try and produce your best tennis. I can’t thank them enough for the improvement I feel they’ve made to my game. Don’t be worried either about whether it’ll be too much tennis. The schedule has plenty of down time in which you relax enough to start to long to be back on court. If you’re thinking about whether or not to book with Active Away, I’d say 100% go for it. You won’t regret it; the only thing you will regret is that you have to leave at the end of your holiday.

I had a wonderful week with Active Away, great holiday concept and well organised. We all had so much fun and learnt a lot about playing doubles tennis.

My first time with Activeaway and it truly blown me away. I've heard a lot about it but this is better than imagined even! I have improved a lot during the week, especially for the double tactics. Host Matt is extremely caring and welcoming, he's brought everyone together as a big family. I travelled by myself but didn't feel alone at all. Met so many nice tennis players on this trip. I would very highly recommend this to everyone who plays tennis! Outside tennis hours, it's also a wonderful holiday with plenty sunshine, food and drink.. I'm signing up for another holiday soon!

My non playing tennis husband and myself enjoyed a great holiday in Crete this October 21. Third attempt at this holiday due to Covid but it was well worth it. Fantastic facilities and food at which meant my husband had plenty to do whilst I enjoyed morning and late afternoon tennis. Great trustworthy and caring company that caters for all standards of tennis and very inclusive to all. Planning our next trip for 2022. Highly recommend.

I have just come back from my 8th holiday with Active Away! It was touch and go whether I'd get to Crete due to the Covid restrictions (Amber) but thankfully everyone was fit & well... I am so pleased that I went. Met a fabulous group of people, with great hosting & tennis coaching provided by Matt & Chris. Can't wait to put some of the tips I've learnt into practice. All being well, am looking forward to my next adventure with Active Away in October!

Excellent holiday in good hotel with very good tennis sessions

Really excellent tennis coaching at a beautiful resort. Josh, Steve, Matt, Sean and Dan put us through our paces and ensured that everyone on the course at whatever level took away something to improve their game. Very sociable and friendly group. Hotel clean and staff attentive and friendly, only drawback was cuisine which was rather lacking in imagination.

Cannot recommend highly enough! Had an amazing tennis holiday facilitated by four fantastic coaches; Sean, Chris, Charlie and Samm! Do yourself a favour and book!

We have been on 6 Active Away holidays and 2 booked already for 2019 - that must say it all. We are keen Social tennis players, both early 70’s (sounds old but believe me the treatment and coaching we get is second to none). We have made many new friends and if it continues like this we will be away all year round with Active Away Tennis Holidays. Coaching excellent, organisation excellent and always First Class Hotels. Truly, couldn’t be better.

If you're after a Tennis Holiday, there's no better than Active Away. Their fully hosted set up means that you're part of a group from the outset, so whether you're on your own or with your partner or friends, it really adds to the experience. I've visited three of their resorts and all of them are fabulous in their own way. The main difference with Active Away is that the coaching is meaningful.
