Alun Downing Tennis Holiday

These are the arrival and departure days for our Adult Tennis Holidays to Royal Mare Hotel, Crete. We can arrange an Airport Transfer for you, or alternatively you can meet us at the hotel.

if you arrive throughout the day on the Saturday, your host or one of the team will be there to say hello, and there may be an option to join any early arrivals for an evening meal.

On the departure day, then team will be there to say goodbye.

Welcome to your first day of your Active Away Tennis Holiday to Lyttos Mare! We start the day with a tasty breakfast and then head up to the courts for our Welcome Meeting. At the welcome meeting your host will explain how everything works with regards to the hotel, tennis and activities!

Following on from the welcome meeting we are straight on to the tennis court - for 2 hours of coaching. This session is all about dominating from the back of the court, and how to transition to the net (think - use your strengths!)

After a sweaty tennis session we normally head for a quick coffee to catch up with everyone followed by lunch in the Taverna Restaurant. It's then up to you how you'd like to spend your afternoon, but we'd suggest relaxing on the beach!

We head back up to the Tennis Centre for a masterclass at around 16:30 which is all about finding the correct Doubles Positioning, then it's over to you to play some doubles in our 'Winners Up / Runners Up Down' doubles social afternoon. You'll have the opportunity to practice all of the tips you just learned in the Masterclass!

For the evening we head for a lovely meal together as a group at the Asian restaurant.

After yesterday, we can't wait to get back on the tennis court! We start with a quick group breakfast before a Volley Masterclass from your host. The masterclass is centred around different decision you can make when you receive a volley.

After listening to your host explain the different options when you volley, it's your turn to have a go during the coaching session! It's a fast paced and very dynamic session and we know your volley will improve by the end of the session.

Following on from a great volley session we head to the Taverna lunch for some lunch. We love the fresh salad's on offer and love to finish with an espresso from the bar.

We head back to the Tennis Centre for 17:00 - 19:00.  The afternoon session is another doubles social - with a twist! We play American Doubles, which is essentially where you play for yourself, but also as a team - don't worry we will explain the rules in greater detail, but trust us - it's great fun!

After a fun filled afternoon, we meet up for a quick drink in the bar followed by a great evening meal at the Taverna Restaurant.

We are already on to day 3! Believe us, our Tennis Holidays go super quickly - you know the expression 'time flies when you are having fun!'

As usual we start the day with a leisurely breakfast and then meet at the fantastic Lyttos Beach Tennis Academy. We've not mentioned already - it really is an outstanding centre, arguably one of the best in Europe. This mornings coaching session is all about how to break serve. We look at the ways of dealing with a fast serve, a slow serve and your job as the returners partner.

As normal we head for a lovely lunch as a group, then have a little relax time - we can highly recommend an afternoon swim in the beautiful Aegean Ocean.

We head back to the tennis courts for a masterclass which is all about how you start and end points - as well as how to be a good partner! Then it's our most fun afternoon - 'the battle of the brits.' We split the group into 2 teams and battle it out to see who the winner will be. It's all doubles and all team based so it's super fun!

For the evening we head to the Asian Restaurant for a seriously tasty selection of food, followed by a drink in the bar with the group ahead of our day off tomorrow!

After a full on 3 days of tennis, it's time for a Day Off! The day is completely yours, and whether you will choose to relax by the beach/pool or pick one of our great selection of Day Off Activities, you'll have an awesome day.

We always give the option to meet in the evening so that no one is on their own.

After a Day Off yesterday, we can't wait to get back on the Tennis Court with you today. After a delicious breakfast at the Main Restaurant we have a fun packed coaching session for you today.

This tennis session is called 'Power Positions' which is a fast paced drills session based around different doubles scenarios, the tempo is high in this session and you'll definitely be sweaty!

We meet for a delicious (and nutritious) lunch as a group in the Taverna restaurant and catch up after the morning tennis session! Normally at this point in the week, some of our group like to book a little massage in the spa this afternoon.

For the afternoon session we run our 'Create a Team' session, which is where you can pull together a team to see if there is someone you haven't played with during the week - the host will explain everything to you. Not forgetting the Active Away Doubles Principles - where we run through our key things we'd love to see you do on the doubles court!

Tonight is all about celebrating what a great week we've had so far as a group with a brilliant meal at the Taverna followed by a cocktail (or two) in the bar.

All good things must come to an end, and it's the last full day today! After a hearty breakfast, we head up to the Tennis Courts for our 'Hopman Cup' event.

The Hopman Cup lasts for 4 hours (but don't worry you'll have chance to enjoy a little rest in-between rounds) - we provide a glass of fizz whilst you relax a little. After a hard fought battle in the fun-style tournament we head to the Taverna restaurant for a tasty lunch.

In the afternoon, it's your turn to enjoy the coaches compete whilst you heckle them! We finish with a presentation, a lovely way to cap off a great week!

For the evening, we head in to the local town for a meal (extra charge - and no obligation to join) which is a fantastic was to experience some authentic Cretan cuisine.
