The Turkey Earthquake
The February earthquake which affected the Turkey – Syria region had a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale. The shifting of tectonic plates in a depth of 17km resulted in over 55,000 deaths which also triggered a tsunami, leading to further victims and destruction. This extreme and saddening situation has affected a group of our dear colleagues and friends at Liberty Lykia and so Steve decided to aid by combining Tennis with his desire to help those in need.
Steve's amazing Charity Cardio Tennis Initiative
This season, our founder, Steve Davies has been raising money to support Liberty Lykia’s staff affected by the Turkey earthquake. Steve has been organising Charity Cardio Tennis Sessions on the day off at Liberty Lykia Hotel to help and support those affected by the earthquake disaster in Turkey.
In as little as 2 months, we have managed to raise close to £6000 through the support of our incredible Active Away Tennis Community. Thank you to everyone who has donated to help support those who in times of distress have continued to do an exceptional job for the Hotel and our community.
All proceeds have been going towards Hotel members of staff whose families were affected by the natural disaster.

Once again a massive thank you from the Liberty Lykia staff, Steve and the Active Away Team for coming together to help those in need. This cause is a perfect example for the Community mission and values we have set out to build.
A wholesome and overwhelming afternoon
At the end of our time in Liberty Lykia Resort this season, Steve was invited to meet the Liberty Lykia staff whose families we have managed to do a small part in helping. It was an emotional afternoon where tears were shed, memories made and a moment in Steves life which he will cherish forever.
